Trello Review 2026 — SaaS & Productivity, Pricing & Verdict

AR360 Rating : 7.1 / 10
Trello is an accessible Kanban tool: intuitive, reliable and generous in its free version. Ideal for simple visual workflows, it shows its limits when faced with complex project management needs.

Our Verdict

Trello is an accessible Kanban tool: intuitive, reliable and generous in its free version. Ideal for simple visual workflows, it shows its limits when faced with complex project management needs.

Trello excels where it has always shone: visual simplicity and immediate ease of use. Trello lets you create a functional board without training, which makes it a benchmark choice for freelancers, small teams and non-technical users. Trello publishes its availability on a public status page, and the permanent free plan is very generous. However, teams with advanced needs — native time tracking, dependency management, agile sprints — will need to turn to ClickUp or Monday.com. Billing exclusively in USD is a real obstacle for Canadian businesses.

How this review was conducted

This review is a documentary assessment. It is based on Trello's public interface, its published pricing and publicly available information, as recorded on 2026-06-02. No field test was carried out: no subscription, no purchase and no exchange with customer support took place. Some items were checked again on 2026-10-08 against the official pages cited. Pricing and terms change: check them on Trello's own site before you decide.

Trello's evaluation was conducted by the editorial team on the basis of an in-depth functional analysis covering eight weighted criteria, including ease of use, infrastructure reliability, integration capabilities and Canadian billing. The free, Standard and Premium plans were examined to establish a value-for-money assessment representative of the needs of French-speaking teams in Canada.

Criteria Breakdown

CriterionScoreWeightComment
Free trial & freemium7/105 %Generous permanent free plan for pure Kanban needs: unlimited cards, up to 10 boards and 10 collaborators per Workspace, unlimited Power-Ups, 250 automation runs per month. Free trial of the Premium plan open to all users to test the advanced views.
Ease of use9/1020 %A very intuitive project management tool. Board/list/card model immediately understandable. Ideal for non-technical teams or users discovering visual project management. Preconfigured templates for many use cases (marketing, HR, dev, sales).
Canadian billing5/105 %Billing in USD only despite belonging to Atlassian (multinational).
Reliability & uptime8/105 %Real-time public status page (trello.status.atlassian.com): availability of each component over 90 days and incident history. Atlassian's availability commitment (SLA) does not cover Trello: it covers Jira, Confluence and other products on Premium and Enterprise. A very stable cloud service.
Feature depth6/1020 %Pure and efficient Kanban: boards, lists, cards (descriptions, checklists, labels, due dates, attachments, members). Integrated Butler automations (rules, buttons, scheduled commands). Additional views in the Premium plan (calendar, timeline, table, dashboard, map). Less powerful than ClickUp or Monday for complex project management, but ideal for simple visual workflows. Missing: native time tracking, dependency management, native agile sprints.
Integrations & ecosystem7/1015 %Unlimited Power-Ups on all plans, including the free one: more than 200 apps, including Slack, Jira, GitHub, Google Drive and Salesforce. Belonging to Atlassian, native Jira integration. Documented REST API for integrators. Zapier available for non-native connectors. Ecosystem less extensive than ClickUp but covers common needs.
French support quality6/1010 %Trello interface available in French. Help documentation in English: Trello recommends the browser's translation feature. On paid plans, support requests can be written in French (answered by the team or through a translation service); no support on the free plan.
Value for money7/1020 %Functional free plan: unlimited cards, up to 10 boards and 10 collaborators per Workspace, unlimited Power-Ups, 10 MB per attachment. Standard plan at 5 USD per user per month with annual billing (unlimited boards, advanced checklists, custom fields) accessible. Premium plan at 10 USD per user per month with annual billing for timeline, dashboard and calendar views. Fair price-to-value ratio for teams with pure Kanban needs. USD only, CAD billing penalty.
