AR360 Rating : 7.9 / 10
Slack, a team messaging tool organized into channels, gives access to a large list of apps, but its USD billing and a free plan limited to 90 days of history can complicate adoption for Quebec SMEs.

Our Verdict

Slack, a team messaging tool organized into channels, gives access to a large list of apps, but its USD billing and a free plan limited to 90 days of history can complicate adoption for Quebec SMEs.

Slack brings together channels, direct messages, audio and video huddles, file sharing and a workflow builder, with more than 2,600 apps. The interface and the help centre are available in French. The main point of friction for Canadian businesses remains billing, denominated exclusively in USD. The free plan keeps 90 days of message history and allows up to 10 apps, which can quickly become restrictive. On reliability, the service level agreement only promises reasonable efforts towards availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no stated percentage.

How this review was conducted

This review is a documentary assessment. It is based on Slack's public interface, its published pricing and publicly available information, as recorded on 2026-06-01. No field test was carried out: no subscription, no purchase and no exchange with customer support took place. Some items were checked again on 2026-10-08 against the official pages cited. Pricing and terms change: check them on Slack's own site before you decide.

The tool was evaluated by the editorial team using a grid of eight criteria covering user experience, reliability, features, integrations, and aspects specific to the Canadian market. Each criterion was scored independently out of 10, with particular attention paid to billing and French-language support issues relevant to Quebec SMEs. The overall score of 7.9/10 reflects a technically excellent tool that nonetheless has real shortcomings for the francophone Canadian context.
